If you want a clean home but haven’t got hours to spend cleaning it, here our some helpful tips on how to make the process a lot easier.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money on cleaning products. You may find that you already have them in your home and if you don’t, they are cheap to buy.

Here are our cleaning hacks that will transform your cleaning ritual as well as your home.

Tumble dryer sheets

Dryer sheets can work wonders around the home. You can use them to remove water spots from mirrors as well as clean bathroom fixtures and shower doors.

Household waste

You can add a fresh scent to your kitchen quickly and easily. Firstly, cut up a lemon. Add the lemon to your kitchen bin to ensure it stays smelling fresh.

Clean floors

Once you have vacuumed the floor, take a bucket of water and add some light washing powder to it. Using an old rag, start scrubbing your floors. Ensure that you clean the rag and get fresh water when things start to look a bit murky. This will ensure that you are not spreading dirt around on your newly cleaned floor.

Sparkling blinds

Blinds can become dusty and trap plenty of dirt. If you haven’t cleaned them in a while, there is an easy solution. Combine equal parts of water and vinegar in a bowl. Then get an old sock and place it over your hand. Dip the sock in the solution and run across the slats on the blinds to remove grease, dirt and dust.

Stainless steel appliances

If you own stainless steel appliances, you will know how hard they are to keep clean and keep fingerprint free. Giving them a good clean will enhance their shine. All you need is a microfibre cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Gently rub over the appliance and you will see the sparkle come back.

Showers

Most people find this a pretty gruelling task but there is an easier way to remove soap and grime that has been building up in the shower. Mix up a solution of half white wine vinegar and half washing up liquid. Using an old sponge or toothbrush, scrub the shower clean.

Cleaning your upholstery

Baking powder can eliminate any lingering smells and break up an stains on fabric. Start off by brushing the surface of the fabric to get rid of any loose debris. Then sprinkle baking soda on the area that requires a clean. Let this sit for around 20 minutes and then using the brush attachment on your vacuum, reveal a fresh and clean sofa or chair.

Cloudy glasses

If your glasses are looking more cloudy and dull than clear and sparkly, get a paper towel and some white wine vinegar to clean them with. 

Lint roller

If you are trying to get rid of dust, dirt or crumbs anywhere around the house, think about purchasing a lint roller. They are cheap to buy and can pick up dust and dirt on lampshades, fabrics, carpets, clothing and in fact just about anywhere.

Microwaves

Microwaves can get messy and start to smell, but there is an easy way to keep it clean and smelling fresh. Use equal parts of water and white wine vinegar and place into a microwave safe bowl. Always add something wooden such as a toothpick to the mixture. This will prevent the water from boiling over. Set your microwave on high for 5 to 10 minutes. Then leave for a few minutes to cool. When you open the microwave, use a paper towel or sponge to give it a wipe down. If you want to keep your appliance smelling fresh, you can also add lemon juice to the mixture.
